Beephan Hosts Women-Owned Business "Hometown Hotspot" Tour of Southern Dutchess with Miss New York

Hopewell Junction, NY - On Sunday, May 1, 2022, Anil R. Beephan Jr., candidate for the 105th New York State Assembly, welcomed Miss America New York, Sydney Park, to join him and other local officials on a "Hometown Hotspot" tour of women-owned businesses in the Towns of East Fishkill, Fishkill, and Wappinger.

This initiative comes as New York continues to rank one of the worst states to start a business. Notorious for onerous legislation and high taxes, owners continue to be frustrated with the business-unfriendly practices. Beephan's office worked directly with Park's team to organize the Sunday tour which included stops at Coupe Champagne Bar in Wappingers Falls, the Fishkill Food Pantry in Fishkill, Unshattered, Tiramisu Restaurant, and Hudson Square Boutique in East Fishkill.

“It was such a privilege getting to visit local businesses and nonprofits as part of this hometown hotspots tour!", said Miss New York Sydney Park. "As a service and scholarship organization, the Miss New York Organization is proud to stand with business owners and local leaders who are as invested in their communities as we are.” During the tour Councilman Anil Beephan stated, “I launched the #HometownHotspot tour to raise awareness and support local businesses & non-profit organizations. I am honored to have Miss America New York join me on a special tour of women-owned/operated organizations in our community.” Councilman Beephan is committed to making his home state more affordable for all to experience the American Dream of business ownership. He will continue to pursue bipartisan opportunities to support legislative reforms for small businesses. Beephan's "Hometown Hotspot" tour also garnered the support of Dutchess County Legislators Stephen Caswell and Joseph D. Cavaccini, East Fishkill Town Supervisor Nick D'Alessandro, Fishkill Town Supervisor Ozzy Albra, Fishkill Village Mayor Kathy Martin, and Fishkill Town Councilmembers John Forman, Carmine Istvan, and Brian Wrye. Dutchess County Legislator Joseph D. Cavaccini said "It is always a pleasure to showcase what makes Wappinger so special and I am honored to welcome Miss New York to our community. Our #WappingerProud businesses have certainly seen many challenges over the past two years and it should be our job to make things easier on them and to promote them, not to add bureaucratic obstacles. I thank Councilman Beephan for organizing this tour and Sydney Park for visiting our beautiful part of the State." Beephan went on to say, "Small businesses are the backbone of our community. Each day we rely on them to feed our families, clothe our children, and supply vital necessities. We must take strides to make business ownership and growth more attainable in our respective communities. We need government and business to work together for the benefit of everyone. Together, we can continue to reform local legislation, overcome barriers, and make ownership more affordable." Since March of 2018, Councilman Anil Beephan has vowed to be a business-friendly representative for East Fishkill. To expand this mission, Anil launched the #HometownHotspot initiative to highlight local businesses and create an opportunity for open dialogue with proprietors. Since Beephan embarked on his tour, he has visited 100+ establishments and spent over $1000 on advertising to bolster their online presence.
