Beephan's Hosts Intergovernmental Tour of New York's Customs and Border Protection
New York, NY - Councilman Anil Beephan hosted an Intergovernmental Relations tour of New York’s Customs and Border Protection for local elected officials. U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the lead agency in safeguarding our borders from threats both foreign and domestic.
Locally, CBP has worked diligently to prevent dangerous contraband from entering our neighborhoods. Through its partnership with Homeland Security and municipal agencies, CBP has removed deadly opioids from our streets, as well as dangerous ghost gun parts, counterfeit products, and illegal agriculture.
In attendance were representatives from East Fishkill, Village of Fishkill, Dutchess County Government, Town of Wappinger, and Town of Montgomery.
“We thank CBP officials for their time and hard work. By bridging the gap between local, state, and federal agencies, we can ensure that our residents fully benefit from more cohesive government services,” Beepahn stated.
