East Fishkill Councilman at-large Anil Beephan Exploring Assembly Bid, District 105
Hopewell Junction, NY: Councilman Anil Beephan is currently exploring a bid for the 105th District of the New York State Assembly. The district includes Beekman, Dover, East Fishkill, Fishkill, La Grange, Pawling, Union Vale, Wappinger, and Washington. Kieran Michael Lalor has represented the district since 2012. Earlier today, Assemblyman Kieran Michael Lalor announced that he will not seek re-election to the 105th Assembly District. We thank Kieran for his years of service to our nation as a Marine and to our community as our representative.
During Beephan's tenure as Councilman, he has upheld his campaign promise to be a transparent and accessible public official. Each week he communicates with dozens of residents, assisting with a variety of local and state issues. Anil has a proven 3-year voting record that exudes support for small businesses, law enforcement, fiscal conservatism, and smart development.
During Beephan's tenure, he has launched the #HometownHotspots tour and the 'Hudson Valley Goes Blue in Support of Law Enforcement' initiative. The Hometown Hotspot tour enabled Councilman Beephan to provide an opportunity for businesses to provide open and honest feedback while providing many with free digital advertising. Beephan launched the 'Hudson Valley Goes Blue in Support of Law Enforcement initiative to help combat the growing national resentment of police officers. Partnering with a local LODD widow, the movement quickly spread across Upstate New York. On October 13, 2020, thousands of residents proudly changed their lightbulbs blue to show their support for the police. Anil indicated that the event would occur again on October 13 this year.
As a Councilman, Anil's influence over many regional and state issues is limited. Despite this setback, he continued his promise to advocate for his community and has issued over 30 letters to make your voices heard at higher levels of government. Locally, he advocated for our children and parents during times of uncertainty and lack of communication in schools. He urged state and local officials to repeal indoor mask mandates for students amid the unbearable summer heat. Simultaneously, he placed pressure on Optimum (Altice USA) to better serve our residents when the internet was the lifeblood of remote work.
He defended small businesses & religious freedoms while advocating for medical privacy and free choice. Today, he continues to fight for individual choice and strongly opposes state-sanctioned vaccine mandates and passports.
Councilman Anil Beephan is a leader, a fighter, and an advocate for his community. He intends to take these traits to Albany to be an effective representative for Southern Dutchess County. He plans to leverage his experience as a state legislature employee and as a Councilman to provide responsive representation for municipalities and residents in the district.
Councilman Beephan began his life in public service as a youth summer missionary in the Dominican Republic and Liberia. As a teen, his strong desire to serve the East Fishkill community led him to Hopewell Hose, the fire company he joined at 16. He volunteered with the district for seven years until he left due to his full-time career. During his tenure, he held the rank of Second Lieutenant. Anil continued his service to Dutchess County as a Legislative Assistant and Community Representative for the 41st New York Senate District from 2016 to early 2019. Today, Anil has refocused his efforts on his hometown of East Fishkill. Anil Beephan Jr. joined the East Fishkill Town Council in March of 2018 due to a vacancy left by Supervisor Nick D'Alessandro. At the age of 23, he took office as the youngest Council Member in the East Fishkill history. He was later elected that year in a special election and again in 2019 for his current term.
Anil attended Arcadia University, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in political science. He later received a master's degree in Management at Harvard University's Extension School.
Today, Anil works full-time in the I.T. industry as a Business Success Representative, primarily providing support to emergency services. He previously worked for a Public Relations firm where he led communications strategy and implementation for noteworthy public infrastructure projects.
